The following is to be held true unless proven otherwise. The following may only be read in its entirety by elders of the College of Mys.
This writing of this manuscript has begun in the year 470 of the era of sorcery by the founder of the Rivinhir College of Mys, Grand Sorceress, Kiliara Starcloak. Her exceptional (and thus far unique) ability to gaze into the essence of magic allowed her to observe, study, document, and teach The Path of Mys. It is due to her grand work that the Path of Mys and thus the understanding of magic has been opened up to mortals.
This script was extended in 563 of the same era by Headmaster Orsos Roholt. He sought to enrich the original understanding of magic with the accounts of other sorcerers. In his pursuit he gained a uniquely broad view on the nature of titans, their worship, and their resulting influence on our world.
The most recent corrections have been made in the second year of the era of kings by Headmaster Aspar Rota. Through the efforts led by his family to unite the civilization of Firskold he was able to study various religious accounts and adjust the following teachings in order to record a truthful relation between men and magic.
To understand the Path of Mys, it is necessary to understand the history of magic and the consequences it has on the path towards divine enlightenment.
In the beginning there was magic, pure and all-encompassing. Its existence spans beyond human comprehension and any explanation of its form here is redundant. The existence of our world began through a spontaneous occurrence in which magic polarized and the era of gods was begun.
The first god to be born was Mys, the god of magic. She is the embodiment of the purpose and the laws of magic. She is the great goddess that infuses everything in existence with magic and therefore purpose. It is well known that magic also has a chaotic and violent nature to it. These aspects are concentrated in Xoma, the god of chaos, the second god to be born.
The first gods, Mys and Xoma, have since then been twisted into their eternal struggle in which every purposeful action is countered by a chaotic reaction. Today most of these explosive outbursts shall be considered minor even when powerful sorcerers imprint their will into them. In the beginning however three clashes of Mys and Xoma were of such grand consequence that they birthed the other major forces of the world as we understand it: the deities we know as the greater gods.
The first clash created Kuluma, the god of change, and Sitku, the god of persistence. Unlike the first gods these are unable to counteract each other but instead are forced into coexistence as one is unable to exist without the other. Kuluma is the power of change and through it also decay. It is to be understood that as living creatures are born and die, the magic that infused their existence is immortal. This immortality of magic is manifested by Sitku. She is the force that gives any existence its urge to remain. As such Sitku drives our world to move in time but yet remain the same – the pine trees of Rivinhir remain part of the forests even if they fall and turn to new soil as it nourishes the forest.
The second clash birthed the existence of Oghrun, the god of truth, and Valhe, the god of lies. These two are through their nature conflicting with the human ability to understand their power. Their existence has however been confirmed by Kiliara’s vision and several other sources, predominantly recorded in through the gifts of Oghrun.
The third clash gave birth to Möror, the god of foresight, and Sayra, the god of impulse, the gods closest to the nature of human existence. It is well understood that Sayra provides the urge for survival, but also the drive towards joy and satisfaction, while Möror provides our capability to plan and achieve greater goals. As such M࣯öror and Sayra can be considered as the greatest sorcerers as they use the powers of Mys and Xoma and imprint their own will into magic, such that every living being is dominated by them.
The first gods and the six greater gods define the essence of our world and are in fact the only gods in existence. It shall be mentioned at this point that there exists no reliable source proving possible communication with these beings or the non-existence of additional greater gods. This is greatly influenced by the powers of Oghrun and Valhe, who obfuscate the occurrence of true divinity. It is however the bedrock of the Path of Mys that it is her will that magic is understood and used in the pursuit of the greater good.
